Half the house has lost power
Electrical faults
Steady demand all year round, and the sector's most repeated search at unsociable hours. It nearly always starts with a breaker that trips and won't reset.
Why they call
- The RCD trips and won't reset.
- Half the home without power.
- Sockets that get hot or smell.
- Lights flickering when another appliance starts.
- An old board with no separate protections.
What to do until the installer arrives
- If there's exposed live cable or a burning smell, cut the main switch and leave it down.
- Unplug whatever was running when it tripped: sometimes the appliance is the culprit.
- Try resetting once. If it trips again, leave it off.
- Don't touch the board with wet hands or bare feet.
With fire, a strong gas smell, accessible live cable or flooding near electrics, call the emergency services before any installer.
What the job includes
- Locating the affected circuit, not just resetting it.
- Insulation measurement and protection check.
- Written quote before replacing material.
- Electrical certificate where the work requires it.
How the quote is worked out
- Call-out to your area.
- Labour in blocks.
- Electrical material, itemised separately.
- Night or public-holiday surcharge, where it applies.
Frequently asked
Why does it always trip at night?
Because that's when the most appliances overlap. It isn't chance and it isn't the utility: it's load.
Is registration required for electrical work?
Yes, for low voltage, in basic or specialist category depending on the installation. It's a registered, checkable fact.
Can it be fixed in the same visit?
A located fault, nearly always. A full board or a new line needs material and a second visit.
Who built this site
Rauda isn't real. This website is, and I built it.
I'm Fernando Gómez de la Mata and I design and build websites for small businesses. Rauda is a made-up company I use as a sample: everything here — the emergency call above the fold, the coverage areas, the availability panel, the credentials record — is what I'd propose to a real installer.
If something has broken at home
Rauda is not coming out to you: it isn't a company, it has no engineers and it provides no service. Find an installer in your area and check their registration number before you let anyone into your home.
