The AC won't cool, or it's dripping indoors
Air conditioning and heat pumps
Its main campaign runs March to May, when the summer install is decided — and this year it has already passed. Outside that window the work is breakdowns and maintenance, not campaign.
Why they call
- The split unit drips inside the room.
- It blows but doesn't cool.
- It's noisier than usual.
- It cycles on and off every few minutes.
- The outdoor unit vibrates or ices up.
What to do until the installer arrives
- Clean or check the filters: the most frequent cause and the cheapest.
- If it drips, switch it off and put a container under it: using it worsens the blocked drain.
- Note whether the problem shows on start-up or after a while.
- Don't top up refrigerant yourself: that's registered-company work.
With fire, a strong gas smell, accessible live cable or flooding near electrics, call the emergency services before any installer.
What the job includes
- Circuit, drain and charge diagnosis.
- Technical cleaning where that's the cause.
- Written quote before touching the refrigerant circuit.
- Certificate where the work requires it.
How the quote is worked out
- Call-out to your area.
- Labour in blocks.
- Material and refrigerant, itemised separately.
- Night or public-holiday surcharge, where it applies.
Frequently asked
When is AC installed for the summer?
The decision is made between March and May. Installing in August is possible, but with far less diary room.
Do heat pumps belong here or in heating?
Both: they cool and they heat. That's why from September they count as heating.
Does handling refrigerant require registration?
Yes. Thermal installations are regulated and require a company registered as installer or maintainer.
Who built this site
Rauda isn't real. This website is, and I built it.
I'm Fernando Gómez de la Mata and I design and build websites for small businesses. Rauda is a made-up company I use as a sample: everything here — the emergency call above the fold, the coverage areas, the availability panel, the credentials record — is what I'd propose to a real installer.
If something has broken at home
Rauda is not coming out to you: it isn't a company, it has no engineers and it provides no service. Find an installer in your area and check their registration number before you let anyone into your home.
