Neighbourhood kitchen · Tetuán, Madrid

Home cooking, in the neighbourhood, since 1998.

Slow-cooked stews, the grill and the oven, and a set lunch menu that changes every morning with whatever the market brings. You can see it here before you come, and book a table without ringing.

The dining room of a neighbourhood eating house, wooden tables laid for lunch in window light.

Where to find a set lunch menu in Tetuán

We are on Calle de Ejemplo, two blocks from the market. We are one of the few places in the area where the set menu is still cooked in the morning and changed every day: no trays and no reheated portions.

Weekday lunch
Two lunch sittings, at one and at three. If you are coming as a group from the office, let us know in the morning.
At the weekend
Full à la carte menu, cocido on Wednesdays and roasts to order with a day's notice.
To take away
The set menu is also packed to take away. Ask at the bar.

I come almost every Thursday from the office. The tripe is the real thing and the set menu comes to under fifteen euros with dessert. It fills up, so I get there before two.

I booked through the website on Tuesday night and on Wednesday the table was ready. The cocido, three courses done properly. We'll be back with the family.

Best part: the daily menu is on the website and it's up to date. I check at eleven what they've made and decide. You used to have to ring up and ask.

There were fourteen of us and it was no trouble. Proper neighbourhood service, the kind there's not much left of. The oxtail is worth the trip.

Illustrative reviews for this demo: first name and initial, no photograph and no link to any profile. They do not come from any real business and they are not declared as a metric in the site's structured data.

Bookings

Book directly with the house

No middleman and no per-diner commission. The table is confirmed straight away and, if anything changes, one call sorts it.

Do you run a place of your own? This is how the set menu is changed from a phone:

What this page is

Casa Melguizo does not exist

It is an invented eatery. This website was built by Fernando Gómez de la Mata, a web designer and developer, to show how a neighbourhood hospitality business's site turns out: the daily menu, the à la carte menu, the bookings and the dashboard the owner changes it all from.

If you were looking for somewhere to eat

Better to say so straight away: there is no food here. No premises, no kitchen and no tables. And writing to this WhatsApp books no table, not here and not anywhere else: at the other end there is no restaurant, there is a web designer. Search Google for the restaurant you had in mind and call its own number.

If you run a bar, an eatery or a restaurant

Then this page is for you, and it is exactly what I can build. Everything you have seen —the set menu changed from a phone, the à la carte menu with no PDF and no QR code, bookings without commission and the house dashboard— works the same way with your name on it. Write to me and I'll tell you what yours would cost and how soon you'd have it.

Message on WhatsApp

WhatsApp opens with the message already written. You decide whether to send it.

The only channel on this demo: WhatsApp 619 20 24 51, Fernando Gómez de la Mata. Casa Melguizo has no phone and no email because Casa Melguizo does not exist.

Book a table

On your restaurant's website, this button dials

Here it does not. The number you can see —400 12 34 56— sits in a range Spain's national numbering plan leaves unassigned: it belongs to nobody and rings nowhere. On your own site, this button opens the customer's phone with your number already in it.

In a neighbourhood eatery a good share of bookings still come in by phone, even when there is a form. That is why the button sits in the header and stays fixed on mobile.
